Superfood is defined as a nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being.

Auntie Dolores loves to marry superfood ingredients with cannabinoids extracted from hemp and cannabis. The infused edible is the safest and most dynamic way of enjoying the health benefits of cannabinoids. We believe that cannabis should be considered a superfood as well as a medicinal herb. After decades of stigma, misclassification and misunderstanding, the cannabis plant is finally regaining its proper place in the medicine chest, as well as on the ingredient list of some of our favorite foods and supplement products.

Dr. Michelle Sexton, a naturopathic doctor who coauthored the Cannabis Inflorescence monograph released by California based American Herbal Pharmacopoeia (AHP) quotes, "this represents an important milestone for the acceptance of cannabis as a medicine”. We are happy to see cannabis classified properly as a medicinal herb, as opposed to a dangerous narcotic, which has stifled its research and inquiry into its myriad of benefits.

"Key ingredients for health and wellness are grown naturally around the world and provide the most profound benefits from plant medicine."

Hemp seeds were considered a superfood even before scientists started extracting CBD and other cannabinoids from the plant. The seeds have extremely high levels of proteins, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. We utilize many other superfoods in our products including coconut oil, turmeric, and pecans. We find by combining cannabinoids from hemp or cannabis with these other superfoods that they have synergy and provide even greater benefits. Cannabinoids and superfoods when blended together can increase vitality and energy flow in the body and brain and help to recharge the immune system, create balance, and stimulate our bodies and our minds.

When consuming cannabis we believe the experience and sensations should be uplifting, positive, and nourishing. By choosing superfood ingredients that are nutritious and healthy, one can enhance their wellness regimen and boost the efficacy of the cannabinoids. Our products are free of all white sugar (a known carcinogen) and other harmful ingredients found in many cannabis edibles. Combining cannabinoids with ingredients void of nutrition is like administering vitamins with a bottle of soda. Delicious healthy cannabis edibles help the medicine go down, and remind us that key ingredients for health and wellness are grown naturally around the world and provide the most profound benefits from plant medicine.

About Julianna Carella

Julianna Carella founded Auntie Dolores, The Every Day Edible in 2008, bringing 20+ years of culinary work with cannabis and entrepreneurship in the health space. Julianna is an avid proponent of health freedom, a visionary, and an activist in the MMJ community. As a health food enthusiast, Julianna began incorporating cannabinoids into her own diet and sharing the benefits with friends and family members who later encouraged her to turn her passion into a business.

The name Auntie Dolores was conceived in the famous Dolores Park in San Francisco, and is a double entendre, meaning “anti-pain” (Dolores means pain in Spanish). Auntie Dolores’ healthy gourmet edibles satisfy medical cannabis patients and enthusiasts with delicious flavors, along with consistency of dosage. Many of the products on the Auntie Dolores menu are savory, low glycemic or sugar free, and contain superfood ingredients; these qualities stand out against the white sugar-laden varieties of edibles available in the market, and appeal to the health conscious consumer with the sophisticated palate.

The Auntie Dolores mission is to provide safe access to cannabinoids for all sectors of society, including animals. (In 2013, Julianna developed Treatibles CBD-infused pet products, which were introduced under the Auntie Dolores line of products.) Today, Auntie Dolores healthy gourmet edibles and pet products are sold throughout California and will soon be available in additional states; the CBD products are legal nationwide and can be ordered through
