Seasonal Recipes: Summer Blueberry Basil Glow Smoothie

Limited-Edition Summer Blueberry Basil Glow Smoothie

Blueberries are finally bursting into season and, for a short window, they’re sweeter, juicier, and more nutrient-dense than any other time of year. When you pair them with fragrant basil and a creamy base, you get a silky purple smoothie that feels like a spa day in a glass!

The Blueberry Basil Glow Smoothie is our limited-time summer wellness recipe: a quick blend, minimal ingredients, and a whole lot of nervous-system love, skin support, and brain-boosting antioxidants in one vibrant pour.

Seasonal Blueberry Basil Glow Smoothie

Ingredients (serves 1–2)

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 frozen banana (for creaminess and natural sweetness)
  • 4–6 fresh basil leaves (start with 4 if you’re basil-shy)
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt or unsweetened coconut yogurt
  • ¾–1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or preferred plant milk)
  • 1 tablespoon ground flax or chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • Optional: 5–10 mg CBD tincture, unflavored or citrus, for extra calm

Directions

  1. Add the almond milk, yogurt, lemon juice, and CBD (if using) to your blender.
  2. Add blueberries, frozen banana, basil leaves, and flax or chia seeds.
  3. Blend on high until velvety and smooth, adding a splash more milk if you prefer a thinner consistency.
  4. Taste and adjust: add an extra basil leaf for more herbal notes or a squeeze more lemon for brightness.
  5. Pour into a chilled glass, garnish with a basil leaf and a few blueberries, and sip slowly as a morning ritual or afternoon reset.

Why these ingredients support your wellness

Blueberries: Skin, brain, and blood sugar support

Blueberries are loaded with anthocyanins, the deep purple pigments that act as powerful antioxidants to help counter oxidative stress and support healthy skin aging. They’ve also been associated with better cognitive function and memory, making them a smart choice for focus-heavy days at work or in the classroom.

Because blueberries are naturally lower in sugar compared to many tropical fruits and bring along fiber, they can help support balanced energy and more stable blood sugar—especially when blended with protein, fats, and fiber like yogurt and seeds.

Basil: Calm, digestion, and a fresh herbal lift

Basil doesn’t just smell good—it brings plant compounds that have been studied for antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which can support overall resilience and recovery from daily stressors. The aromatic oils in basil can also help stimulate digestion and make a simple smoothie feel more gourmet and intentional, encouraging you to slow down and actually enjoy your morning ritual.

Paired with blueberries, basil adds a bright, slightly peppery note that cuts through the sweetness, so you get a complex, “grown-up” flavor profile instead of a sugar-bomb smoothie.

Yogurt, seeds, and (optional) CBD: Gut, hormones, and nervous system

Greek or coconut yogurt brings creamy texture plus protein or healthy fats, which help keep you fuller longer and support hormone balance and steady energy. Ground flax or chia seeds add omega-3 fats and extra fiber to nourish your gut microbiome and support regular digestion.

If you choose to add CBD, it can layer in gentle support for the endocannabinoid system, which plays a role in mood, stress response, and overall homeostasis.
